INTRODUCTION TO THE LITURGY: Theme: The Shepherd King – On the last Sunday of Liturgical year, the church celebrates the universal sovereignty of Christ. Equally emphasized is the fact that his kingship different from that of any other. Like Yahweh the shepherd in the Ezekiel reading, Christ is the shepherd and provider of his people. He will evaluate human conduct in the final judgement on the basis of our willingness to the most celebrated passages in the New Testament. As Paul today explains to the Corinthians, Christ is a reign which will one day come to an end.
