MESSAGES FROM FATHER JIM

In your prayers kindly remember the sick and those who care for them, the lonely, the handicapped, those isolated, and those who have died especially, Sister Teresa Todd, Sister Teresa Kelly, Thomas Thorley and Ronald Labelle.

INTRODUCTION TO THE LITURGY Christian Hope: Christianity is not simply religion for another world. It is not an “opium of the people” that bases everything on life beyond the grave. Job saw no hope beyond this life and wrestled with present inequities. Christians have hope that goes beyond; however, just as Jesus responded to illness and discouragement by his healing spirit, we are all called to respond to the needs of people in our world today. Paul speaks of his needs to preach the gospel, even to the point of identifying closely with his hearers.

St. Joseph’s Food Bank

It is time once again to ask for your help in stocking our empty shelves. St. Joseph’s Food Bank serves hundreds of families from Pembroke and surrounding area, and this requires constant donations from the public. In the past, you have been most generous and we appreciate all of your support and ask for your generosity again. Since we received no funds from any level of Government, this requires asking you for your support of food donations and /or money. Food Donations can be dropped off at our facility, located in Holy Name Annex, on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pick-up of non-perishable foods can be arranged by calling 613-732-3807; monetary donations can be mailed to the above address.

HOLY NAME PARISH OFFICE ASSISTANCE NEEDED

The current Holy Name Parish Office secretary, Suzanne Sheridan, has been waiting for some time for full knee-replacement surgery.  The first knee-replacement surgery has now been scheduled for Monday, April 26th in Pembroke.  As a result, the Holy Name Parish Office will require a replacement secretary during Suzanne’s recovery period, which to our knowledge could be a minimum of approximately six (6) weeks.  This will be confirmed at a later date. If anyone is interested in filling in during this time, or have any questions, please contact the Parish Office as soon as possible at 613-732-3355, email holynamepembroke@outlook.com.  A training/familiarization period prior to April 26th will also be required.  Thank you for your support.
