MESSAGES FROM FATHER JIM

In your prayers kindly remember the sick and those who care for them, the lonely, the handicapped, those isolated, and those who have died, especially Veronica Lyons.

FROM THE RECTOR’S DESK –God and Caesar: The history of salvation, while divine in its origin, is played out on the stage of human history. The scriptures illustrates the relationship of both Israel and the early church to civil governments. Those relations were sometimes positive, sometimes negative. At the end of exile in Babylon, the Persian king Cyrus ordered the return of the Jews to their homeland and rebuilding of Jerusalem. In today’s reading from Isaiah, Cyrus is held aloft as an agent of Yahweh’s will. In today’s gospel, Jesus is questioned about his attitude toward Roman authorities. His answer is balanced and does not “tip the scale” in either direction. In the reading from 1 Thessalonians, Paul sees the Spirit’s active presence within the community as a result of apostolic preaching.

HAVE A SAFE AND BLESSED WEEK!

Your offering for Sunday, September 13th was $4,495.00
A sincere thank you for your weekly donations during the COVID 19 pandemic. Your generosity is gratefully appreciated.

Thanksgiving Prayer

Thanksgiving Day
We bow our hearts to You and pray.
We give You thanks for all You’ve done
Especially for the gift of Jesus Your Son.
For beauty in nature, Your glory we see
For joy and health, friends and family,
For daily provision, Your mercy and care
These are the blessings You graciously share.
So today we offer this response of praise
With a promise to follow You all of our days.
