MESSAGES FROM FATHER JIM

In your prayers kindly remember the sick and those who care for them, the lonely, the handicapped, those isolated, and those who have died, especially Sister Margaret Foran, Sister Marjorie Veronica Casey, Murial McGuinty, Simone Handspiker, James McLellan.

IN MEMORIAM – Suzanne St. Jean & Lawrence Soucy.

INTRODUCTION TO THE LITURGY – Theme: Jesus, the Suffering Messiah – The third song of the servant of the Lord serves as our opening reading today. It is taken from the second part of the book of Isiah (cc. 40 – 55), called Deutero- or second Isiah, and dates from the end of Babylonian exile. It describes the suffering which the servant is called to endure. The Gospel reading is a turning point in Mark, with Peter’s profession of faith and Jesus’ speaking of his impending passion and death. The letter of James sheds light on one of Christianity’s major questions: the relationship between faith and good works.

From the Rector’s Desk – Count on Jesus

If wind or wave should sweep away

Those things I now hold dear;

If health should flee and sickness come,

Or loved ones leave me here.

Should fortunes change and hardship come,

If dreams should fade away;

If test and trials should plague me sore,

And troubles haunt my day.

When all I gone, this still I know,

Christ’s love will never leave us,

For when all things have passed away,

We still can count on Jesus
