MESSAGES FROM FATHER JIM

Welcome back to St. Columbkille’s Cathedral and our regularly scheduled masses.

In your prayers kindly remember the sick and those who care for them, the lonely, the handicapped, those isolated, and those who have died.

FROM THE RECTOR’S DESK – Adherence to the Will of God – There is a deep spirituality in the simple prayer of former Secretary General of the United Nations, Dag Hammarskjold: “For all that has been, ‘thanks’; to all what will be ‘yes’.” The message of today’s scriptures centers around that unqualified “yes.” Jeremiah accepted his God-given mission even though it was tortuous and he was strongly compelled to turn away. Jesus does not allow voices from any quarter to draw him from his appointed destiny. Even though it was to lead him through the valley of death, he was irrevocably set upon the path that his Father has determined. It is this type of “living sacrifice” that. Paul tell us, we should offer to God.

HAVE A SAFE AND BLESSED WEEK!

Your offering for Sunday, August 16th was $3,682.10
A sincere thank you for your weekly donations during the COVID 19 pandemic. Your generosity is gratefully appreciated.

This one-day event on September 19th will be sure to speak to your soul, as you reflect on our theme “Come, and rest a while.” There will be 3 short talks, singing and prayer throughout the day. For more information, and to sign up go to https://womensfallretreatvirtualedition.eventbrite.ca

Virtual Teen Program

Catholic publisher Pauline Books and Media (PBM) is looking for avid teen readers interested in participating in a pilot run of their new “Pauline Reviewers Program.” Participating teen volunteers have the opportunity to learn to craft a book review for a publisher as they create an official review of a teen title by PBM. Through their review, teens can lend their voice to the world of Catholic publishing, and will earn a certificate that can be used towards high school volunteer hours, resumes, etc. If you have a teen who loves reading or wants to engage in the world of writing and publishing, contact Sister Orianne Dyck (odyck@paulinemedia.com) for more information for further details regarding the program and registration.
