MESSAGES FROM FATHER JIM

In your prayers kindly remember the sick and those who care for them, the lonely, the handicapped, those isolated, and those who have died especially Jérôme Sallafranque, Murray Paul Reckzin & George Crevatin.

INTRODUCTION TO THE LITURGY A Covenant people: If there is one thread that runs through the entire fabric of the bible, it is that covenant. Genesis today speaks of Yahweh’s covenant–making with Noah for the benefit of all of creation. The first letter of Peter draws on the Noah theme in pointing to baptismal water as the saving element of God’s new covenant. Mark’s brief account of Jesus’ temptation concludes with Christ’s proclamation of the new covenant’s arrival. The reign of God is at hand.” The beginning of Lent is good moment to consider what it means to be people bonded with God.

FROM THE RECTOR’S DESKYou are to be commended for the great turnout at the Ash Wednesday Masses. We urge to continue your efforts to make daily Mass a part of your Lenten program. As well we invite you to pray the Stations of the Cross Friday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Let us pray for one another asking the Lord to help us to make of this privileged time one growth and renew in faith.

You will find on the tables at the entrances PRAYERS MEDITATION BOOKLETS for Lent. We encourage you to take one home and use it as a part of your Lenten program.

Pope’s Prayer Intention for February 2021: We pray for women who are victims of violence, that they may be protected by society and have their sufferings considered and heeded.

Prayer for Spiritual Renewal

God, heavenly Father, look upon me and hear my prayer during this holy Season of Lent. By the good works you inspire, help me to discipline my body and to be renewed in spirit.  Without You, I can do nothing. By Your Spirit help me to know what is right and to be eager in doing your will. Teach me to find new life through penance. Keep me from sin, and help me live by your commandment of love.

God of love, bring me back to you. Send Your Spirit to make me strong in faith and active in good works. May my acts of penance bring me your forgiveness, open my heart to your love, and prepare me for the coming feast of the Resurrection of Jesus.
Lord, during this Lenten Season nourish me with your word of life and make me one with you in love and prayer.

Fill my heart with your love and keep me faithful to the Gospel of Christ. Give me the grace to rise above my human weakness. Give me new life by Your Sacraments, especially the Mass.
