MESSAGE FROM FATHER JIM

Welcome back to St. Columbkille’s Cathedral and our regularly scheduled masses.   In your prayers kindly remember the sick and those who care for them, the lonely, the handicapped, those isolated, and those who have died.

Theme for July 12th – Preparing for the Harvest:
Using agricultural language, today’s scriptures speak of the effectiveness of God’s word.  Isaiah tells us that just as the rain brings about desired results in fertile soil, so too God’s word moves inexorably toward its fixed finality.  However, in Jesus’ parable of the sower, we are also reminded that not even God can effect in the human heart more than good will permits.  The letter to the Romans teaches that not only are we destined for glory, but all creation is joined with us in that hope.

A sincere thank you for your weekly donations during the COVID 19 pandemic. Your donations are gratefully appreciated.

Chronicle from Bishop Guy Desrochers C.Ss.R. Bishop of Pembroke:

National Catholic Women’s League President Anne-Marie Gorman has arranged an on-line Summer Speakers Series, from August 10th to August 14th,  a focus on Care for Our Common Home, Women in the Church, and League of the Future.  To participate, CWL Members can register online, by going to the National Website: CWL.ca and click on “Summer Speaker Series Registration,” found under “Quick Links”.  Each speaker is listed by date and time.  Once completed and submitted, the member will receive a confirmation of their registration via email.  Those wishing to join, must register for each speaker separately.  We hope all CWL Members are healthy safe.

Upcoming Pilgrimage to Our Lady of the Cape and to the Shrine of Saint Anne

The 146th annual pilgrimage to Our Lady of the Cape and to the Shrine of St. Anne de Beaupré will not happen on August 8-9, 2020.  The pilgrimage has now been rescheduled for September 12-13 or October 17-18, 2020.  Pilgrims who have already prepaid for their pilgrimage will be refunded if they cannot be present to either one of these projected dates. The projected dates will depend on the federal, provincial, territorial and public Health governments’ decisions.  Our Lady of the Cape, pray for us. Good Saint Anne, pray for us.
